Title: Backing up Repairing and your database.
Q: "I have an error in the database that needs to be repaired, how do I do this?"
A: Follow the steps listed below:
- From the ‘Start’ menu select ‘Programs’ Ý
‘Vizual Business Tools’ Ý
‘Personnel Manager’ Ý
‘Database Maintenance’.

- Log into this using your username and password for Personnel Manager.
- You will then have a screen showing the options available. First, select ‘Backup your Database’ and then click ‘Next’
Now, a list of all your databases is displayed. Leave all of them ticked and click next.
You must now specify the file name and location for it. For example ‘backup and today’s date), then click ‘Next’ then click on ‘Start’
A message will be displayed advising you that your database is damaged and to repair the database before doing a backup.
Just click ‘OK’ to this message. You will get the message ‘One or more databases are damaged. Do you want to continue?’.
Select ‘Yes’ to this. The database will now be backed up, now click on ‘Close’.
You must now select the option ‘Repair a Database’ and then click ‘Next’.
From the drop down menu select the database that has the errors and click ‘Next’.
The system will now go through and verify the database. When this is complete you will see a summary screen showing the damaged files. Select the repair database option. The system will now repair the damaged database.
