Creating a Summary Report in Vizual Personnel Manager

For Advanced Personnel Manager Users*

Following on from last month’s article on creating simple list reports (, this month we will be looking at creating a different kind of report using Vizual Personnel Manager.


Summary Reports

Summary reports are great reports for identifying potential issues with data. They work by grouping together the same values in a field and then calculating some kind of total.

With Summary Reports the process is similar to producing a list report however this time we need to identify which field you wish to group by, what field will be used to calculate and finally what kind of calculation you would like to use.

In this example we will create a report showing the number of employees grouped by their Ethnic Origin to enable HR to analyse the ethnic diversity within the organisation. This report can also also be used spot any employees who are missing Ethnic Origin Information or if there are any typing or data entry errors.
